The sun rises in Italy six hours before Wilmington sees its first hint of daylight, an important difference in time when considering the life – and death – of the Rev. Roberto Balducelli.
The legendary Wilmington pastor died Friday night, 100 minutes before the clock reached midnight and marked his 100th birthday. But because of the six-hour time difference between Delaware and Italy, where Balducelli was born Aug. 10, 1913, some say the influential clergyman achieved his goal of living a full century.
