Almost exactly two years ago, South Philly Review reported on the meeting at Columbus Square Park, between 12th and 13th and Wharton and Reed streets, and the nearly $3-million renovations that the Columbus Square Advisory Council was proposing for the park.
At the time, $3 million seemed like a massive amount of money to raise. But this week, the Council is pleased to report, the sum has been entirely collected. With an announcement on Jan. 28 from Harrisburg, state Sen. Larry Farenese disclosed the distribution of $1.4 million in state investments - $300,000 of which would go to Columbus Square.
