The mayor of Elk Grove Village's Italian sister city of Termini Imerese in Palermo, Sicily, stepped off a plane at O'Hare Airport yesterday (Wednesday) with a small delegation to visit his sister city and fellow mayor. Termini Imerese Mayor Salvatore Burrafato and a delegation of four others from Termini Imerese and the Palermo region are visiting Chicago and Elk Grove Village.
They'll travel with two other officials from their town and Bensenville's sister city of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, who arrive tomorrow (Friday). Both delegations fly back home Wednesday, Oct. 14. The visit marks the 15th anniversary of Elk Grove Village's sister city relationship with Termini Imerese.
