Italian family's century-old farmland will be new community garden

If you wanted to find out what some of the first truck farmers around Denver grew, Rick Grippa would be the man to ask.
His family's farm in unincorporated Adams County goes back four generations to the Italians who settled near Clear Creek, only a few decades after famed Colorado mountain man Jim Baker built his ferry across it.
