It all started with Hieronymus Bosch. My Wednesday morning Bible study was learning about Christian art and we had gotten up to the Northern Renaissance when our teacher, Rev. Chris Shorow, mentioned that a painting by the Dutch master, Heironymus Bosch had just been authenticated at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. There are only about two dozen authenticated Bosch paintings in the world and this makes number five in the United States. What a great excuse for a road trip!
Everyone in the class was excited. I tweeted about our upcoming adventure and the reason and got an immediate response from the museum. It seems that Heironymus had gone visiting — back to the Netherlands to be part of an exhibition Hieronymus Bosch: Visions of a Genius at the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch.
