Downtown will seem like Little Italy this Saturday for the inaugural Festa Della Reppublica, Fitchburg's Italian Festival. "I'm always interested in anything that's going to make downtown buzz," said Tamar Russell Brown, gallery owner, founder and lead curator for Gallery Sitka. The festival will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. this Saturday on Main Street, which will be shut down during the event. It is free and open to the public.
Gallery Sitka, 454 Main St., coordinated Festa Della Reppublica with Fitchburg Pride. The gallery will be displaying work from four Italian artists from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. preceding the festival, which is inspired by one of the most important national holidays in Italy -- the day, June 2, the Italian people voted for a republic following World War II and the fall of fascism.
