The traditional Columbus Day flag raising outside of Town Hall is set for 9 a.m. Monday in celebration of Italian heritage. Despite town offices being closed for the holiday, the Italian flag will be formally hoist and displayed outside Town Hall for the day. A reception will follow at the St. Lawrence Club, 86 Valley Road. Cos Cob. First Selectman Peter Tesei will read a proclamation as part of the flag raising.
The flag raising has become an annual celebration for the St. Lawrence Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to service and community. Greenwich resident Samuel Telerico will raise the flag Monday and will be feted at the society's 28th annual Columbus Day Dinner that night at 6:30 p.m. at the club for his "countless hours of community service."
