The five historical societies of the Ethnic Heritage Center celebrated Sunday with an informal sharing of traditions and food from African-American, Jewish, Irish, Italian and Ukrainian cultures.
Mayor Toni Harp, who attended part of the celebration, praised the center for all its "great work," and noted how the afternoon of weaving all the ethnic traditions together was quite representative of the New Haven community.
