The St. George Men's Group is back to host its second annual Italian Festival to raise money to benefit fuel assistance programs for town residents in need. The festival will take place Aug. 28 and 29 at the St. George Church grounds, featuring homemade Italian food, live music, a grape stomping contest and a bocce tournament. The event runs 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and 3 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Last year's fest netted $10,600 in charitable donations toward local fuel assistance programs, and this year's goal is double that. "We'd love to hit $20,000 this year — and we might have last year if the weather was a better on our second day — but we're hopeful we can reach that goal," said Jim Mancini, vice president of the St. George Men's Group.
