Italo "Tom" Tamborino, age 90, a longtime Stamford resident, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021. Tom was born in Stamford, CT on July 30, 1930 to the late Frank and Philomena Tamborino. Tom was a Corporal in the United States Army and received many accolades and medals including a Korea Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.
He served as a Paratrooper and cook which is where he found his love of cooking. He was also a proud Stamford Firefighter and retired in 1978. Tom never stopped giving back and at age 75 he volunteered to go to New Orleans and work with the Red Cross for two weeks to help with the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort.
