Joseph Petricone Sr. died Wednesday evening at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy as a pillar of the Torrington community. He operated Petricone's Pharmacy, at 110 East Main St., following in the footsteps of his father, Fiore, who opened the location in 1930.
"He was a gentle giant - warm, caring," said Joseph Petricone Jr., his son, who worked alongside his father for a number of years. "He loved talking to people, he loved telling people stories... he was a lot to many people." Petricone Jr. said his father looked at the patrons of the pharmacy not as customers, but as friends.
