Take the 1960s-era song stylings of Connie Francis and Sergio Franchi, mix in a little Mario Puzo and you've got part of the recipe for "Cinderella Italiano!," a new musical version of the classic fairy tale. The season closer for the Pantochino children's theater in Milford draws on writer-director Bert Bernardi's warm memories of growing up Italian.
The show opens at the Center for the Arts on Friday, April 24. "This is my fifth version of 'Cinderella' that I've done over the years and I've always thought the name sounded Italian. I've always had an Italian godmother in every version," Bernardi said, with a chuckle, during a recent interview.
