Springfield Sons of Italy Host First Annual Italian Gala

The Springfield chapter of the Sons & Daughters of Italy, St. Padre Pio #3013 will be hosting the first Annual Italian Gala at the Sheraton’s Grand Ballroom in Springfield on Saturday, October 28th 2023 at 6:00pm. The Gala will feature a five course Italian dinner, along with live music, dancing, and awards presentation. The black-tie optional affair will feature three honorees and four awardees from the Italian community.

Being honored will be Mr. Paul Picknelly who was recently named the Italian Vice Honorary Consulate. Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno will be honored as Springfield’s longest serving mayor and being a close friend to the Italian community. The National President of the Sons & Daughters of Italy, Mr. Michael Polo, will also be honored as the newly elected president of the Order.

The following will receive awards:

District Attorney Anthony Gulluni will receive the Theodore Dimauro Award, for Distinguished Service to the Community

Mr. Allan Ardito, veteran USMC, will receive the Vincent Capodanno Award, for Distinguished Service as an Italian American Veteran.

Father Paolo Bagattini CSS of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church will receive the St. Gaspar Bertoni Award, for Distinguished Service to the Church.

La Fiorentina’s will receive the Alfonso Bialetti Award, for Distinguished Service as an Italian Business.

Tickets are available at www.springfielditalians.com and must be purchased as soon as possible. All proceeds will support the establishment of an Italian Culture endowment for future events including the return of the Italian Feast in Springfield.
