Springfield UNICO announced this week that it has named state Rep. Angelo Puppolo Jr. its 2015 "Person of the Year." The Springfield Democrat, who also represents Wilbraham and part of East Longmeadow, was given the title for exemplifying UNICO's principles of unity, neighborliness, integrity charity and opportunity said UNICO Person of the Year Committee Chairman Vin Ronghi.
He also lauded Puppolo for honoring his heritage as a member of the Greater Springfield community. "This honor is given to an individual who has demonstrated the UNICO principles. The award and the recipient reflect the significance of the preservation of traditions, culture, history and heritage, and embody the very best of what it is to be Italian American," Ronghi said in a statement.
