A Half-Century of Gangsters, Glamour and Guts: 'Martin Scorsese' Comes to Queens

Martin Scorsese released his first film, Who's That Knocking at My Door, nearly half a century ago, in November 1967. In the 49 years since, he has established himself as a legend of the cinematic arts, an auteur not unlike Jean-Luc Godard or Alfred Hitchcock, whose output maintains the same frenetic pace as the films he makes.

On December 23rd, his 24th feature, Silence, will be released in theaters nationwide, and on December 11th, an exhibition devoted to Scorsese's life and work opens at New York City's Museum of the Moving Image.
