Antoinette Abbruscato, 90, a retired seamstress and longtime Oakwood resident whose life revolved around her family, died Sunday in Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Dongan Hills, where she had been a patient for two weeks. Born Antoinette Russo in Naples, Italy, she met Joseph Abbruscato when he was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The couple fell in love, and she came to the United States as a war bride in 1946, moving with her husband to Brooklyn and becoming a homemaker. She settled in Oakwood in 1962, and was also a snowbird, wintering in Margate, Fla. She also worked for many years as a seamstress in Manhattan's garment district.
