Westchester County officials celebrated Italian heritage month Tuesday night by raising the American and the Italian flags and singing the respective national anthems. The event was held outside the County Office Building in White Plains.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer was there along with other officials. Latimer's heritage is half-Italian and half-Irish. "We have here today some of the most prominent people in Westchester County who have given their heart and soul to this county and this country, but are still very proud of their Italian heritage. And that's why we're here today--to raise the flag in honor of Italian heritage month," said Latimer.
