He had only been named bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport 24 hours earlier, but on Thursday morning the Rev. Frank Caggiano could already see the signs here that he will soon be leaving the place he was born and raised and able to leave the mark of 25 years of religious ministry.
"I've got 220 emails since yesterday, and 47 texts," he said, standing in the first-floor chapel of the Brooklyn Diocese's offices. He tucked his large cross necklace into the breast pocket of his black suit and began what on any other day would be a quick walk for a sprightly 54-year-old like him to his upstairs office.
