Joseph Sciame, Vice President for Community Relations and St. John's University alumnus, has received Knighthood in the Order of Pope St. Sylvester. This honor, one of the highest given by the Vatican, honors the contributions of lay people from Christian and non-Christian faiths for their contributions to the Church.
The award was presented by Most Reverenced Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn to Sciame on Sunday, November 1 during a vespers service at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. "I am deeply humbled to be recognized by the Holy Father and our Bishop, Nicholas DiMarzio, with such a high honor," Sciame said.
