Neighborhood organization wants to create a 'Little Italy'

Nothing says Italian food quite like cannolis, and some say, no one makes them quite like Etna's Bakery in Gates. Etna's is in the heart of more than a handful of Italian restaurants on Lyell Avenue and Spencerport Road. But, it's not quite a 'Little Italy.'

"140,000 Italians in the greater Rochester area, and we're second only to Staten Island. But, we don't have a 'Little Italy' neighborhood. Which is strange because they do have one in Niagara Falls and Buffalo and Syracuse and we believe we can have one too," said Silvano Orsi. He has a plan to make the area more pedestrian friendly and create a place for more restaurants to thrive. Businesses hoping to apart of this Little Italy neighborhood, like Diplomat, a banquet hall on Lyell Ave are, well, excited.
