A first-of-its-kind “Italian Heritage Street Festival” is coming to Whitestone on Sunday, Oct. 20. The initiative, led by City Council Member Vickie Paladino, who represents the area, aims to create a community event for its local Italian-American residents. Running from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the outdoor celebration will stretch down one block on 14th Avenue between 150th Street and Clintonville Street in Whitestone Village.
The street where the festival will run is home to the popular Italian grocery store Sergimmo Salumeria and the old-school Charlie & Son Meat Market. And Tutto Calcio Espresso Bar, which sells traditional Italian street pizza, sandwiches and pastries, is just around the corner.
