Most Italian community events have a broad scope. But, the American Italian Heritage Association Museum in Albany, NY (1227 Central Ave.) is getting very specific with an upcoming event. A "Porchetta Festival" -- celebrating the iconic Italian preparation of a slow-cooked pork roast -- is scheduled for the following Saturday, September 17.
The fundraiser for the facility is planned as a buffet-style "authentic Italian dinner on the museum lawn," rain or shine. It will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. as a dine-in or takeout event. Besides the porchetta, the menu includes eggplant Parmesan, roasted chicken and potatoes, pasta with tomato sauce, tossed salad, Italian cookies, and beverages, all catered by two Troy businesses, Patricelli's Deli and Bella Napoli Bakery.
