Historic Richmondtown was painted red, white and green for the first annual Rome Through Richmondtown festival on Staten Island.
The festival was presented by Borough President James Oddo and served as the replacement for the annual Columbus Parade, which had seen an attendance drop in recent years. Oddo went the way of a festival to extensively showcase Italian fare, music and culture in a way that a fleeting parade never could.
