The National Italian American Bar Association announces the passing on March 21, 2021 of an accomplished member, Vincent Angelo “Vin” Marchetti of Stearns Weaver Miller, Tampa, Florida based law firm. Vin practiced in land use, zoning, permitting, land use litigation, government affairs and economic development projects.
His hand extended to public facilities in the Tampa Bay region and throughout the State of Florida. He worked in economic development matters as well as public-private partnerships. Prior to his work at Sterns Weaver Miller, Vin was a county attorney for Hillsborough County, Florida. He had significant impact on development and growth in that region.
Vin was active in sports law matters and worked extensively on both a major league baseball spring training facility and a community stadium used by an NFL team. He was a past chairman of the Tampa Sports Authority and sat upon the Authority’s board of directors.
In February 2020, the date of the last in-person meeting of the NIABA board of director’s, Vin was accorded honor and recognition as a distinguished member of the association.
Vin enjoyed a long and wonderful marriage with his beloved spouse, Laura Dianne (Sipe) Marchetti. They were blessed with two (2) children, Katlyn Marie “Katie” Marchetti and Andrew Vincent “Drew” Marchetti. Katie predeceased her father.
Many NIABA members shared the difficult journey in health which Vin carried in dignity, optimism, and concern for others. He was blessed in friendship with Paul Finizio, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NIABA. Recently, Vin’s son and Paul’s daughter were joined in marriage.
Vin was a truly accomplished lawyer, outstanding in his field of practice. As members of NIABA, we can look to our brother, Vin, as both a model and aspiration in the practice of law and in the practice of life. May our dear friend and colleague rest in peace
