Bits of Italy from Caesar to Dante to the 20th century are on display in Belton. The Belton Area Museum kicked off Museo de Italiano, a collection of paintings, coins, pottery and other artifacts from Italian history, with a reception Sunday afternoon.
The event was part of this year's Italian-themed Anderson International Festival, which runs through February at several spots around Anderson University. Vic Aviles, a businessman and actor based in Anderson, donned a Medieval Italian peasant costume and read the scene from Dante's "Inferno" when the author meets the Roman poet Virgil.
