The Florida Keys History & Discovery Center in Islamorada features The Rose Tattoo for November's Midweek Matinees. Movies are shown in the new state-of-the-art 4K theater on the first Wednesday of each month. This first year will feature movies made in or about the Keys, and will include a historical introduction by the Discovery Center's Historian/Curator Brad Bertelli or Historian Jerry Wilkinson.
The Wednesday, Nov. 4, movie is The Rose Tattoo, written by Tennessee Williams who lived in Key West and starring Anna Magnani and Burt Lancaster. It is an adaptation of a Williams play, created in 1954. As for the play's name, Shirrel Rhoades, a syndicated film critic in Key West, shared that Williams had a sister named Rose.
