Italian American Foundation Selling D.C. Mansion for $4 Million

The stately Washington, D.C., building that houses the National Italian American Foundation is ready to be transformed into a lavish personal residence. The 7,800-square-foot property—officially known as the Ambassador Peter F. Secchia Building, after the former U.S. envoy to Italy—has been owned by the foundation for the past 30 years, according to Matthew Windsor and Lyndsi Armenio of Douglas Elliman, who will be bringing the property to the market next week for $3.99 million. 

“It’s very possible it could sell to a company, a corporation or a country,” Windsor said. “But we do think it has a lot of potential to be an end user residential property.” The building, in the Dupont Circle Historic District, has “great bones and a lot of amazing details that would make it a wonderful trophy home,” Windsor said.
