Ferrara Candy is moving its corporate headquarters and 400 jobs from Oakbrook Terrace to the Old Main Post Office next year, becoming the second major corporate tenant to commit to the mammoth refurbished building straddling Congress Parkway. The candymaker, known for its Lemonheads and Atomic Fireballs, today announced the relocation plans, confirming Crain's previous reports that it was moving to the city.
Ferrara has leased 77,000 square feet at its new home, where it will move next summer after decades in the suburbs. The company was founded in Little Italy in 1908 but moved to the suburbs in the 1960s. Ferrara follows Deerfield-based Walgreens Boots Alliance into the 2.8 million-square-foot former post office, which developer 601W is transforming into a modern office building.
