Massimo and Lella Vignelli’s minimalist Upper East Side home seeks $6.5M

Massimo Vignelli may have been Italian by birth, but he lived and worked in New York City (even designing its most notorious subway map) for most of his life—and for more than 30 years, he and his wife/collaborator, acclaimed designer Lella Vignelli, called a three-bedroom duplex on East 67th Street home.

Now, that elegant apartment is on the market with Sotheby’s for $6.5 million, and it’s as lovely as you’d expect from one of graphic design’s most famous couples. The New York Times has the scoop, and talked to the couple’s son, Luca, about the home. “It was very much a cultural hub for artists and designers,” he told the Times, but after his parents passed away (Massimo in 2012, and Lella in 2016), he and his sister decided to sell the apartment.
