83-year-old Italian graphic designer Massimo Vignelli has a long list of iconic designs to his credit, including branding for American Airlines, Bloomingdales, and IBM, as well as the map for the New York City subway system.
According to Creative Review, Vignelli is "very ill" and in his last days, he and his son Luca are asking "all those for whom Vignelli was either an influence or an inspiration to write him a letter."
