Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Fulbright Program in Italy

On Tuesday December 11, 2018 at 6 pm, the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C. and the United States Department of State will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Fulbright Program in Italy. Since its inception in 1948, the Program has greatly contributed to fostering and strengthening relations between Italy and the United States. Today the Program is a fundamental contributor to the outstanding relations that connect the people of our two nations. Since the Commission was established in 1948, more than 10,000 U.S. and Italian students, teachers, lecturers, and researchers have been awarded Fulbright grants to the other country.

Ambassador of Italy Armando Varricchio, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Marie Therese Royce, Anita McBride, member of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, and Paola Sartorio, Executive Director of the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission will give introductory remarks.Fulbright participants, alumni and scholars will then give presentations on the various Fulbright exchanges that U.S. and Italian alumni have taken part in.

The event is open to the press. Journalists are advised to arrive at the Embassy at 5.30 pm
