The Present and Future of Italian Language and Culture Studies

Nov 02, 2016 377

What are the new directions available to the field of Italian Language and Culture Studies in a globalized world in which Italy plays an important role both economically and culturally? Within what kind of interdisciplinary framework does the field need to work in order to fully thrive? What contents, technologies and methodologies can be adopted to teach a language of tradition and innovation at once?

The Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies at Montclair State University with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in New York is pleased to invite you to the round table "Come sta l'italiano? The Present and Future of Italian Language and Culture Studies" (Tue. Nov. 15 6.30-8.30pm, Lecture Hall 101 School of Business).

Join Consul General of New York Francesco Genuardi, Lucia Pasqualini from Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Modern Language Association (MLA) representative Dennis Looney, and David Ward from Wellesley College for a conversation on the current state of the discipline, the best practices recently identified by practitioners, and the interesting challenges intrinsic to the growth of a lively language that is studied in increasing numbers worldwide. RSVP required here by Fri. Nov. 11.
