Dickinson College Department of French and Italian invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian. This is a one-year, non tenure-track position in Italian Language, Literature, and Culture, beginning Fall 2016, renewable for a second year upon successful evaluation.

We seek a candidate in Italian Studies, who can teach effectively at all levels of the curriculum, including Italian through theater, and will participate fully in the life of a vibrant Italian program. Preferred areas of specialization: 19th and/or early 20th century Italian literature and culture, colonialism, and migration studies, with strong interest and background in language pedagogy and teaching with technology.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be fundamental characteristics of the successful candidate. Native or near-native fluency in Italian is required. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Italian in hand by time of appointment. Teaching load is 3-2.

Preliminary interviews will be held at the MLA convention in Austin, Texas.
