Our Scholarship Program is now a fifty-three year tradition in the Italian community, carrying on the program ORIGINALLY established by the United Italian Societies and Clubs of Greater Springfield. These scholarships represent the value and importance we place on the education of our young people and our commitment to help make it possible. These scholarships are also an expression of pride in our Italian Heritage and our hopes for the future. They reflect the responsibility which each generation must assume for preparing the next to assume its place in the world.

As partners in the quest for education, we offer these scholarships in the
hope that they will provide the foundation for continued personal and professional growth. We offer all of our Scholarship Recipients our congratulations and best wishes for a bright and successful future.

QUALIFICATIONS

Italian Cultural Center Scholarships are open to High School Seniors who are:

→Children of ICC Members with a family membership, OR
→Grandchildren of ICC members, OR
→Children of non-ICC members who are of Italian descent,
attending a High School in Western Massachusetts, and are
sponsored by a member of the ICC.

One additional scholarship, the Dante Alighieri Scholarship, is open to a student who qualifies under one of the above conditions and will also be studying the Italian Language as part of his/her college curriculum.

Scholarship recipients are chosen by the ICC Scholarship Committee based on academics, leadership and financial need. Scholarship recipients receive an award certificate at a Scholarship Banquet held in mid-May. The actual monetary award is given to the student when a copy of the student's Fall college registration is provided to the ICC by the student (including an Italian language class in the case of the Dante Alighieri Scholarship).

The scholarship recipient is expected to make every effort to attend the Scholarship Banquet. However, if circumstances do not allow the recipient to attend the Banquet, a family member must attend in their place.

IMPORTANT: No application will be considered unless it is complete and an official academic transcript has been forwarded to the Committee by the applicant's school counselor, with the applicant's GPA, Class Rank and SAT scores. There will be no follow-up to request any missing information or supporting documentation.

Italian Cultural Center Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $500.00 each. Completed applications, with supporting documentation, must be postmarked no later than April 15 in order to be considered by the scholarship committee.

It is the responsibility of the student and his/her guidance counselor to ensure that all supporting documentation (transcript, recommendations, etc.) is submitted with the application. All pages of the application should be stapled together, and must be signed by the student, parent, guidance counselor, and a member of the Italian Cultural Center.
