The Italian Heritage & Cultural Committee announced its scholarship winners for 2024. Four awards of $1,000 scholarships were given to high school seniors of Italian descent who practice community service and demonstrate a strong work ethic in and out of school, which “exemplifies qualities for a successful career,” stated a press release.
The winners are Daniel St. George and Ella Duarte from Norwich Free Academy, Grace Buecker from Montville High School and Devyn Pelillo from Griswold High School. The individual awards are named the Frank Demicco Italian Heritage Scholarship Award, the Italian Heritage Award, the Dr. Anthony Tramontozzi Family Award, and the Mary D’Elia Lord/ Frank Chinigo Award.
