The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute and The Italian Language Intercultural Alliance in collaboration with the Italian American Faculty and Staff Advisory Council will hold its annual reception for faculty and staff on Monday, September 28th. This year's reception will feature a presentation and discussion titled "How Do Cultural Differences Play into Global Networking?" The discussion will be led by Tanya Blom and Sarah Travaglio, both from LinkedIn. RSVP to [email protected] or [email protected]
The objectives of the Italian American Faculty Staff Advisory Council are to advise the college presidents and the Chancellor through the work of the Institute and its Dean on matters affecting the University's Italian-American community and to safeguard accountability for Italian-American personnel within the University. Pursuant to multiple court decisions and recommendations about the affirmative action status of Italian Americans, the Council is a critical observer of the treatment of Italian Americans.
Campus delegates articulate the needs and interests of students, faculty, and staff at the individual campuses and deliberate ways in which the Institute can address them. The Council works to ensure that Italian Americans are treated fairly in accordance with their affirmative action status. The Council also raises awareness about the status of Italian Americans through its presence on each campus.
To learn more about the Council, or to express your interest in becoming a campus delegate, contact Donna Chirico, Chair of the Council. Visit the IAFSAC page on the Calandra website for more information on the Council.
