Italy comes to Long Island once again as Camp Italia welcomes children ages 4-12 to its summer camp programs from July 21st – July 24th, transforming the space at 38 Old Country Road in Garden City to an oasis of all things Italian.
For children ages 4-7, the camp day starts at 9 am and ends at 11am. For ages 8 to 12, the program begins at 3pm and ends at 6pm.
The allure of Italy continues to attract children and families to summer camp at Camp Italia, where participants hear and speak Italian, sample authentic Italian snacks and meals, and learn about aspects of Italian life, traditions, music, history and geography through games, activities, songs, and skits. Tombola and bocce are among the favorites! Children listen with bated breadth each day as a different cultural brief is introduced about an aspect of an Italian child's life. After learning to read our Camp Italia menu and order food and drinks, the children are taught about and then served authentic Italian snacks, lunch or dinner, including all the courses of an Italian meal. Shares the parent of a camper, "I think Camp Italia is a fabulous experience... My kids come home using new Italian vocabulary and talking about Italian facts that they didn't know before. It's not just a language based program, but so much culture, too. Every day is a new adventure and the smiles on their faces tell it all." Programs are offered for children ages 4-12, and no prior knowledge of Italian is necessary. The fun continues throughout the school year with morning classes for toddlers and afternoon and weekend classes for school age children.
About Camp Italia: Camp Italia's mission is to inspire young people to embrace, connect to, celebrate, and carry on and the richness of Italian language and culture. Camp Italia is an organization that offers custom-designed, fun and interactive Italian programs at a level that is relevant to children. Our programs engage young people through interactive and educational games and learning, teaching them what it's like to live in Italy today and experience all it has to offer. From summer camps to after school classes, Camp Italia programs are designed to be experiences where children are plugged-in to all things Italian and are surrounded by Italian sights, sounds, and flavors.
