Local chapter #2780 of the Sons of Italy of America presented three $1,000 scholarships May 24 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. The first award was the Sons of Italy Statewide “Dante Award,” which was given to Ponte Vedra High School student Nick Farmularo.
Farmularo will study environmental sciences at Yale University. In addition to excelling academically, Farmularo founded the Sierra Club of Northeast Florida while attending high school. The second award went to Amber Elaine Kidd, Pedro Menendez High School and DeanJames Garcia D’Angelo, the 2018 valedictorian for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.
