Sons of Italy in America, St. Augustine Lodge 2780, held its annual scholarship award dinner last month honoring three recently graduated high school students.
Emily Johnston, Samantha Williams and Danielle Marchanka are the recipients of a $500 scholarship presented by Eileen Dillon, who chaired the scholarship committee.
Although the young women are diverse in their high school activities and future goals, the one thread that ties them together is their Italian lineage — Johnston's maternal grandfather, Williams' paternal great grandfather, and Marchanka's maternal great-grandmother and grandfather.
