Replacing Cali Breakfast on the base floor of downtown San Diego's historic El Cortez Hotel building is Osteria Cotto e Mangiato, a new Italian bar & restaurant from an experienced area restaurateur. Last fall Executive Chef Marco Provino opened morning-focused Cali Breakfast in Cortez Hill. Provino is also a founder of Giardino Italian restaurant in Lemon Grove and has ownership interests in San Diego-based Inpasta,
Allegro and Rusticucina restaurants. Cali Breakfast featured a variety of Latin American and California-style breakfast options and a build-your-own drink experience. Provino recently rebranded Cali-Breakfast to become Osteria Cotto e Mangiato, which offers an expansive selection of antipasti, which is an Italian word for 'pre-meal' snacks.
