Ralph Papa, the owner of the legendary Papa's Food Market in Wilmington's Little Italy, died Saturday at the age of 70. He died about 11 a.m. at Christiana Hospital, where he had been in intensive care with gall bladder problems and infection, then developed pneumonia, which affected his breathing and heart function, Rosemarie Papa, his wife of 32 years, told The News Journal on Sunday.
"I just felt so forlorn for him," she said. Papa began having health issues in 2012, when he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a neurological condition causing fluid buildup in the brain, affecting his short-term memory, balance and ability to walk.
