Pastry chef brings Italian traditions to her childhood home

Angela Ranalli-Cicala was shopping at the Cherry Hill Mall with her 9-year-old son Augustino when she had the strangest feeling wash over her. It was as if her late grandmother and great-grandmother were whispering, "Va a casa!'' in her ear – "Go to the house!''

Home these days is South Philly, but the "house'' evoked in Italian in the middle of a mall excursion was her childhood home in Marlton, a house she shared for years with her parents, siblings, grandparents, great-grandmother and an uncle – 11 people in all. The family has not lived there since 1986, when she was 15 and her folks moved to Bucks County; the house has had several subsequent owners.
