The Nutmeg State has one of the highest populations of people with Italian ancestry in America. It’s no wonder we’ve got so many great Italian restaurants in Connecticut! New Haven is famous for their Connecticut-style pizza (“apizza”), some of which has been named the best pizza in America. Tucked away about half an hour north in Middletown is Vero Cucino.
This tasty spot started out as a restaurant focusing on authentic Neapolitan pizza. It has since expanded to include other Italian dishes. The restaurant’s goal is to use fresh ingredients to make authentic Italian fare. Most of the famous pizza restaurants in Connecticut tend to be in New Haven, the birthplace of apizza. But that doesn't mean there aren't great Italian restaurants in Connecticut's other cities.
