La Fenice opened its third location at 49 Main St. in Westport on Friday. The gelato and coffee shop's other two locations are in Greenwich and Rye, N.Y. Simona Silvestri and Salvatore Scure run La Fenice, while their son Ricardo Galati manages it. La Fenice offers 24 flavors of gelato and sorbet and pastries such as scones and croissants. Almost everything sold in the store is authentically Italian; everything except the fruit is imported from Italy, according to Galati.
"We're hoping to make a big boom in Westpost, so people get to have a taste of Italy a little bit closer to home," said Galati. The owners of La Fenice had interested in opening a place in Westport for some time, but they decided to wait for the perfect spot on Main Street, said Galati.
