National Tortellini Day: Get the best 'belly buttons' on Staten Island

National Tortellini Day is Saturday, Feb. 13. Yes, it's got the day all to itself. I know what you are thinking: "If there is a Tortellini Day, what isn't there a day for?" But the tortellini does not come unheralded. It's got Roman mythology and a fraternal society, La Dotta Confraternita del Tortellino (The Learned Order of the Tortellini). Members wear red and gold tortellini shaped hats and defend the "twisted" pasta's origins in Bologna, its traditional recipe and preparation, all of which is explained on the organization's website.

The brotherhood's founder, the late Alessandro Cervellati, described the "tortellino" "as a sensual intercourse between woman's attractiveness [it has the shape of a navel] and a gastronomic creation."
