When you call Carmine Bianco, you should hope he doesn't answer. This way, you get to listen to the best recipe I've heard lately. Instead of a voice mail message, his phone sometimes answers with the voice of a distinctly Italian fellow who ticks off a list of the ingredients for a good red sauce.
For someone like me, who has spent many a Sunday around the dinner table with my Italian family, it is music to my ears. I've interviewed Bianco in the past and I have to say he, too, is distinctly Italian. He's the energy behind the Italian Festival on Pine Avenue and just the man to bring a little more of Italy to the city's "Little Italy."
