Fourteen-year-old Kelly Doualla ran the 60 meters in an astonishing 7.27. That's a sci-fi time for a teenager: a world record for this age, yet another demonstration of the health of Italian athletics, with so many talented youngsters.
The Italian beat the 7.30 run by American Tamari Davis in 2018. We are looking at a true prodigy and are probably commenting on the exploits of the Italian sprinter of the future, who is truly capable of pursuing enormous goals considering the premises.
Born on November 20, 2009, Kelly Doualla had already distinguished herself last year with a 7.48 over this distance (indoors of course) and with a remarkable 9.40 slightly windy (+2.2 m/s) over the 80 meters (the 100 meters is not yet covered), but she had made people talk about her especially for her incredible 6.21-meter long jump this summer.
Kelly, who sealed under-16, under-18 and under-20 Italian records in one fell swoop, has climbed to seventh place on the all-time world underage lists and has four more years to improve (she is the second European under-18 all-time).
