Italy topped the medal table at the European Under-18 Athletics Championships: seven golds, three silvers, five bronzes and a total of 15 laurels taken home by the Azzurri. The Azzurri widely outdistanced Poland and Czechia (four titles apiece), while Germany (3) and France (2) lagged even further behind.
Our national team demonstrated a genuine overpowering in the continental event reserved for students, on the standards of what the seniors did a few weeks ago in Rome. The results obtained in Banska Bystrika (Slovakia) bode well for the near future, where young Italian athletes will try to be great protagonists.
The great golds won by Elisa Valensin and Diego Nappi in the 200 meters, Serena Di Fabio and Alessia Coppola in the 5,000-meter march, Pietro Villa in the javelin throw, Kyan Escalona in the 110 hurdles and the women's mixed relay stand out. Also worth noting is the bronze medal of promising Daniele Inzoli in the long jump.
Finally, there are also silvers from Margherita Castellani (200 meters), Vittore Simone Borromini (3000 meters), Francesco Efeosa Crotti (triple jump) , as well as bronzes from Elisa Valenti (triple jump), Nicolò Vidal (5000 meter march), Tommaso Ardizzone (400 hurdles) and from the men's mixed relay.
