Perennial stars of the Italian summer season along the Riviera, like Portofino and Cinque Terre, draw more visitors than they can often handle, but that doesn’t seem to deter the warm-weather onslaught (selfie fines notwithstanding).
But one of the Riviera’s most exquisite stops, Sanremo, flies under-the-radar for many travelers, although it’s somewhat of a conundrum as to why, since it offers many of the lures of better-known resorts—stunning Mediterranean scenery, an intriguing old town, enviable micro-climate (residents boast of only three seasons—winter doesn’t quite happen here);
