Good times ahead for Italian wine merchants

The Italian Enologists' Association has described the harvest as a record in terms of quantity and quality.
Italy is now likely to be able to produce around 47 to 48 million hectolitres of wine, more than its French neighbour and its main competitor.


Italy had been going through a hard time with its grape harvest because of bad weather.
After two years of below-average production, the weather this year proved not to be too hot, allowing for slower and more measured grape maturation.
